Renowned Chicago-based artists Sandra Antongiorgi will be the Guest Artist at this second edition of the fair. An accomplished singer, songwriter, and painter originally from Puerto Rico, Antongiorgi is best known for her collaborative mural, ‘Weaving Cultures’ at 16th and Blue Island. Winning The Chicago Readers, ‘Best Mural of 2017’, the mural is unique in that it features a transgender Latine, and serves the gap between divided neighborhoods and honors underrepreseted women of color.
In her studio work, Antongiorgi continues to draw upon life experiences, and the power of relationships, culture, boundaries, mysticism and spirituality. Her extensive work and collaborations explore the human biology to reveal the inherent splendor and humanity while raising awareness of the silent suffering of a society that is exposed to violence, incarceration and systematic marginalization.
A limited edition print of Weaving Cultures made exclusively for the fair will be available for purchase at the fair for $200.
